DescriptionMarco Rostagno (1935-2004) was an Italian cartoonist, illustrator and painter, who early in his career worked for the French market under the pen names Paul Savant and Rostand. Then, from the end of the '60s, he worked for many Italian magazines and especially "Horror", published by Sansoni Editore. It was a monthly comic magazine featuring "Terror/Magic/Nightmare/Mistery" stories that ran from Dec. 1969 until Oct. 1972.This atmospheric page is from the story "Date a Cesare" (Horror #2, Jan. 1970), in which the last days and the assassination of Julius Caesar and those of an imaginary Italian politician are narrated side by side and in parallel. In case you're wondering, that gorgeous scantily clad girl with Caesar is Cleopatra. She was 25 at the time 😻 (pen and ink on artboard, roughly 14,5"x 20" - Yep, it's huge!) Social/Sharing |
