Maybe the stalling had something to do with Stan working out his own personal "sibling rivalry" with Larry? ;)

I certainly remember when the word "waste" was the popular choice to replace "kill" back in the 90's and it should stay there. The dialogue is stilted in general, but let's see what the future brings. Hope springs eternal!
