Lovely pencils! They real let the detail shine!
Nice pick-up. Congrats Jason!
Don't have anything to say about the story but it's remarkable how rich Yu's pencils are. Everything is so clearly delinated and rendered, which is tricky given how the Tigra figure in the first panel is crossing a panel borders and fighting/interacting with the other characters in the sequence. It's a real shame that he's transitioned to a digital workflow, especially for original art collectors.
Perfect Halloween post. And Jigsaw's face is the perfect subject for Lenil's amazing pencils. Thanks for reminding me that I need to add an example of his to my Philippine artist gallery.
absolutely loive Leinil's detailed pencil work, I much prefer seeing his work that way than with an inker but that's just my personal preference (also having recently seen a bunch of it at Kwan's booth at NYCC in person). nice page!
Hell hath no fury like a Tigra scorned!
Tigra! Tigra! Bringing fight
Leinil’s pencils do her right,
What immortal scratchy style
Could frame thy Leinil fantasy?
In that constant pencil line
Burnt the fire of thine thighs?
The art brings hair she aspires
Hussa fan, dare sieze this fire?
In short order goes Jigsaw,
Would twist the sinews of thy art?
And when thy claws began to feast,
What dread hand? & what dread feet?
What Avengers? What the page?
In that Bendis was thy brain?
What the Leinil? what dread grasp
Dare her haunchy Tigra’s ass?
When the art threw down the stares,
And gangster villain Jigsaw’s tears,
Did he smile this work to see?
Did the Yu made the Kwan ship these?
Tigra! Tigra! burning bright
In the panels shaded right,
That immortal Leinil line
Dare frame thy fearful fantasy?
I've been a big fan of Leinil's art since he first burst on the scene and this page ia a pretty good example of why.The camera perspective in the first panel is great and really helps enhance the tension. The details on both Jigsaw and Tigra are spectacular, as his pencil rendering is so unique and exquisite. The punch to the jaw in the 2nd panel is great & the kick to the underside of his jaw in panel 3 is so cool as well. The camera placement in the bottom panel is once again just fantastic and Jigsaw's face is so beautifuly drawn! But, maybe for you, the BEST part about this page is that it comes from a Bendis book! Congrats, Jason.
You know I'm not the biggest Yu fan in the world BUT this page is great if only for that first panel.
(it was actually on my to buy list at some point as a Tigra fan).
Plus we all love those intercompany crossovers and it's such fun to see Tigra kicking Two-Face's ass here ;)
That was my first thought - why is Tiga fighting Two-Face? :-)
Dynamic pencils!
Really enjoyed Leinil's run on New Avengers. This page is a great example.
That's some fine line pencil work there! So crisp from Yu and of course he's doing his thing on the storytelling front. And I ALWAYS love seeing Greer get some play in modern books! Congrats, man!
