Very cool. Loved these toys growing up!
Thanks, Amir! It was such a classic toy set.
Way ta go grabbing a piece of history, George!
Thanks my friend! This one checked a lot of boxes for me and is such a special piece.
Oh wow, yeah, I had that toy! That's fun!
It was such a classic toy line!
Wowza!! This is incredible!
Thanks, Jason! It's such a treat to see Layton's design for the Kang action figure.
Pretty sure the Secret Wars from Mattel is the first time Kang was an action figure. He wasn't part of the original Mego line.
Thanks, Derek! I figured if anyone would know it would be you or Michael.
What a score. Such a nostalgic story arc. Great piece
Definitely a nostalgic line! I discovered them a few years after they originally came out but this piece inspired me to pull out my Wolverine and Kang figures.
This is a series one figure and done early on in the development of the entire line. Maybe even before the comic was written to support the line. The Spidey black costume may have started as a toy concept before its comic debut showing how important Marvel took this toy line.
Great call outs! It's my understanding that this was drawn in '83 or earlier before the comics were released. I wonder if Marvel has or will publish a book on the creation of the line and series. I'd love to see one.
Fun :)
Oh this is awesome! That figure was my introduction to Kang! Congrats!!
Such a great get!! Congrats George!
I never had that toy, but now I want one, because I LOVE the design. Great piece of Secret Wars history!
It's amazing that pages like this were kept and not discarded. These aren't just pieces of comic history, but toys thats millions of kids grew up playing with. I still have mine!
Ha ha, yes! No better way to mix childhood nostalgia with comics AND toys AND great OA! You are well on your way to CONQUERING the OA design world ;) Sincere congrats!
So cool to see that they got Layton to do this instead of an in-house Mattel artist!
That's fantastic, I love Secret Wars merchandising!
