Great write up, F M! The graphic storytelling is indeed superb (gently guiding the viewer's eye through the page itself), but I'd also add how fantastic the artwork is in support of the story being told (via the text and dialogue)... The dramatic tension is ratcheting up at this point, but Flash can't quite explode out of the gate -yet-... Even so, Steve makes sure to deliver a page filled with motion and kineticism to build up the tension even further... Very cool page with more outstanding storytelling from Steve Lightle! Congrats once more on scoring the full book, F M!
It's a souped-up graphical page too!
Congrats!
Awesome page, and appreciate the write-up as well!
Awesome page with spot on storytelling, figure drawing and composition. Love the use of the reverse image of Flash in Panel 3. Makes us miss Steve even more. Also, you may want to correct this, but you typed in Stuart Lightle under Artist. Just thought you would want to know.
There's nothing I can add to what you've already pointed out in your description, but I do want to concur with what you said about none of the characters being shaved. That is a detail that I am personally always aware of and it has always bothered me that most artists either don't think of it or purposely ignore it.
I had gotten so used to seeing Lightle being inked by others that it was a real breath of fresh air to see him handling all the art chores on covers and sequential work during this time. Wonderful page.
The little change up in the backgrounds in panel 5 is a great touch to keep the readers on their toes.
