Description

I met Manix Abrera at the local convention here in Manila back in 2010 which was KOMIKON. I've admired his genius and his humility even more after reading his silent comic book called "12"

I've attended all of his Solo Exhibits in the Philippines and I'm proud to have bought at least one piece from every exhibit. Early in March 2023, I met up with Manix and Miguel Mercado for dinner and Manix wanted to pass by the Art Gallery prior. He said he wanted to turnover some art for an upcoming local art show. Manix showed this piece and was astonished by a new canvas he found. The guy keeps surprising me!

DISCLAIMER: I DID NOT RESERVE THIS at the Gallery. I fell in line before ART IN THE PARK 2023 opened. As soon as the gates opened, I walked briskly to the Galerie Stephanie Booth and bought this immediately. Manix thought I was kidding when I said that I wanted it. Why would I joke about it? :D

Anyway, here is Manix's latest masterpiece - Midnight Story 1: Alitaptap or "FIREFLY" in English.

I just love the new colors Manix got. Reminded me of ML's Ghost Rider piece!

New surface tesxtures for Manix to play with! Everyone surface he's used so far has been thirsty for that sometimes fun and sometimes moody rich colorwork he puts down.

Circles are all the rage! I love that Manix is tapped into the zeitgeist. His work evokes a mood that cannot always be put into words. You just need to see if and feel it.

This speaks to the story. Manix is finding his stride with the acrylics and color mix. This is appealing from so many levels from the trees in the background to the fauna in the foreground birth of which dwarf the blonde at the center. Excellent addition to your collection. Jiggy, thank you for pushing Manix and all the other artists you represent which are a very talented team.
