Such a beautiful illustration and well worthy of a frame. I heard an interview recently with Neil Gaiman where he said that Teddy Kristiansen was one of the least "popular" artists on Sandman when his issues came out, but that he has always loved what Teddy brought to the book and he thought his style was perfect for Sandman. This illustration shows the truth in that. Congrats!
It's funny as I know Hempel didn't get a glowing reception but I love his stuff and have no problems with Teddy's art either! I started in to the series late though, but happy to go against the grain here.
Being in the same camp as Neil Gaiman isn't a bad place to be!
A nice and moody scene! Congrats!!
Love it! Not the biggest fan on his interiors on the book but this is great!
I am firmly in the Kindly Ones art camp. Hempel, D'Israeli, Kristiansen were all great and brought a striking flavor to the series that other, more naturalistic artists could not. Congratulations on yet another fabulous acquisition!
Kristiansen's inerpretation of Sandman in this piece is very memorable as it was also used in the gold foil border chase cards from Skybox. I mean most of the card dealers would try to sell the regular cards off in sets just so they could get the chase cards.
Yup. That's damn near perfect.
I, too, absolutely loved Teddy's work on The Sandman (and the SMT special). This piece is next level, with those gorgeous colors that drip off the page and invite you into the night. Really striking work, Simon - a gorgeous piece! What an incredible add!
Fantastic! Love this Sandman trading card art by Teddy Kristiansen. It's one of the nicest Sandman pieces I've seen. Love the way Morpheus is shown only half in the frame, like he has something to hide. Superb pick-up, congrats!
How cool is this?!?
I am absoloutelybiased, but very cool, going on mega cool.
