Description
This page from Guardians of the Galaxy (Vol. 1) #29, released in August 1992, is part of the Infinity War crossover and directly tied to the events of Infinity War #3 and #4. It features the inner conflict between Aleta and Stakar as they confront multiple evil Starhawk doppelgangers created by Magus.

The scene reflects the psychological and cosmic tension that defined the Infinity War event, offering a layered moment of identity, duality, and resistance. Aleta and Stakar’s struggle against corrupted versions of Starhawk adds emotional depth to the larger battle against Magus’s twisted forces.

The last panel is internal dialogue of Aleta (female) and Stakar (male).  They merged to become Starhawk.  Kind of like Firestorm over in DC, except these two don't get along.  The comic and this character defintitely would get outlawed in many states.

The mixture of cosmic hair and intamacy was a draw. Good to know the intamacy is due to proximity and not a thing of romance. I was kind of questioning it when I was skimming through. I have all series and crossovers from Infinity Gaunlet through Infinity War and am guessing I should go back and read through the events and then in numerical order of the series.

Did you know? Originally, the story from GoTG #22 was to be called “Enter: Shadowhawk,” the name Jim Valentino came up with for the new dark Starhawk. However, Marvel Editor-In-Chief, Tom DeFalco, encouraged Valentino to come up with a new character using that name.

So you've got yourself an 'In Utero' Image Shadowhawk page right here! 😉

Good to know. I am sure it will make more sense when I read it though. I went back to 22 and skimmed and am thinking it has to do with the last page.

Yeah, what Marcus said. Oh, and J.J. Birch was just a pseudonym for an artist by the name of Joe Brozowski!

Congrats on your first foray into the world of GOTG vol 1 with this fantastic page !!!  I love the inky/starry bodies of Starhawk and his evil doppelganger.  Really enjoyed this story when I first read it.  You are in for a treat.

Makes me want to break the rules and read on marvel unlimited. Luckily I am not too far away from collecting most of the earleir portion of this series. Maybe will try to finish it at the next con.

Don't you just LOVE how Starhawk's costume is rendered?!  Always cool seeing these older Guardians pages posted on CAF.  Congrats!

Congrats on the page! These issues (#28-29) began a change in direction as Valentino left the series at this point. FYI: Back Issue magazine #119 is an all Guardians issue that covers Valentino's full run, his plans for if he had stayed on the book, and also covers the bronze age Marvel Presents: GOTG run, and the beginnings of the GOTG Vol 2 series.

I will have to look back at that issue some time. I found it on the Two Morrows site. Thanks for the suggestion.
