John Pomeroy was working on Disney features in the 1970's until joining Don Bluth's breakaway group. For the
Dragon's Lair video game, he animated hero Dirk the Daring and Princess Daphne. John returned to Disney for a time in the 1990's, but has seemed to bounce around to projects where he can continue to draw. My friend Karen and I met John at WonderCon following an
Atlantis: The Lost Empire panel in 2001. In November 2017, John came out to CTNX Animation Expo and offered some drawings for sale. I caught up to him on Sunday and bought Dirk the Daring and Princess Daphne from
Dragon's Lair and Mrs. Brisby from The Secret of NIMH. John illustrated the picture book Walt’s Imagination:, The Life of Walt Disney written by Doreen Rappaport. The final pages were painted. This piece is the final pencil layout for a Pinocchio scene with the Blue Fairy and Jiminy Cricket. The additional image is the painted rough for the page which is available in John’s shop.
