Lovely story about your UK con experiences, felt like I was there with you, watching Pee-wee.
What's the story behind how you acquired the 2002 Enid sketch?
Thank you for your too kind words. As far as how I came about the Enid drawing: I was hoping to slip that past everyone but you are too sharp for me. I outbid everyone else in an online auction and handed over a wedge of money. Boring.
The other best first issue has got to be Youngblood #1. Nice Enid! So exact in what Clowes puts down and leaves out with both color and line. The light red glow on her face and the red ears gives her a devilish look.
Really? I will have to dig out my copy and give it a re-read, but I have often thought Rob Liefeld is the one true auteur working in comics. Sarcasm, right? You certainly know how to tickle my funny bone. We will both be sent to the back of the queue when Rob Liefeld is giving away free Deadpool sketches.
Fantastic! Was this published? If not, it should have been! Congrats and thanks for sharing.
Nope, not published as far as I know, but we diehard Dan Clowes/Ghost World fans have got to get our fixes where we can (didn’t you used to have the Eightball 21 letters page featuring cameos of all the DC major works, incl. Ghost World, in your CAF gallery or is my memory playing up again?) as we both know DC is hanging onto all his Ghost World originals which puts it in the select group of acclaimed classics for-the-ages titles alongside, amongst a handful of others, Walt Simonson’s Manhunter and Cliff Chiang’s Lonely City. Thank you for your kind comments.
