This is a prime Byrne Superman page with Kesel inks that do not skip any detail. He carries out the assignment to bring the best of the pencils with a shine and polish of his past team books. The destruction and debris panels give the city life and the faces are sharp to show off that classic bone structure of his characters.
Amazing John Byrne Superman page! Byrne clearly relished the opportunity to highlight the destruction Superman could bring to Metropolis if he lost control of his powers--And he does it by showing how it affects the people he loves the most! Terrific story from the first panel of the glass shattering inside the Daily Planet offices, to the fouth panel where Superman's heat rays blow apart a water tank outside. The chaos and destruction is meticulously brought to life by the very detailed inks of Karl Kesel! Great pick-up!
