DescriptionPretty awesome piece of comic book history here. This is the original photos cut and pasted to create the background setting for Jack Kirbys New Gods #3 cover.I believe Buscema did it first with the cover for Submariner #7. Definitely was a cool way to add some new pop to comic covers and probably saved the artists time from tedious architectural drawings. I can't be sure that Jack Kirby cut and pasted these images but I like to think he did while I'm holding it in front of me. Social/Sharing |

So cool! Kirby experimented with collage work in his comics and also constructed a number strictly for his own satisfaction. Kirby always thinking outside the box. That's a really great piece.
