A pre-eminent example of Budd Root's work. Meriam is in distress at the bottom of page in classic Budd style but the real showstopper here is a full page image of Klyde looming over her; his arms exploding from the borders of the page. Also features Stuart egging Klyde on. I have followed Root's work in the past and admired his style as well as his accomplishments as an independent creator/publisher yet never found a page to add to my collection, but when this splash became available I knew it checked all the boxes you would want if you could only have one piece to represent an artist's body of work.
