Element Girl

Element Girl from Sandman issue #20.

I’ve been commissioning artists for years, but this simple yet elegant rendition of Element Girl by Colleen Doran is still my favorite. In fact, I think it’s the first commission I ever framed.

It is so beautiful I would sometimes catch myself staring at it for over an hour. The emotions in her eyes, the different textures of her body, there’s not enough good things I can say about it. It is absolutely perfect. And I mean that. 100% perfect. I wouldn’t change a single line or stroke in this wonderful work of art.

I know that for many of you, you don’t understand my love for this commission of an obscure character. You don’t need to understand. All you need to know is that if I ever fall into poverty, this commission will probably be the last thing I will sell, and I would have to be in a really desperate situation to do it.

Anyway, go read Sandman #20. It’s a fantastic stand-alone issue.
