Solo Avengers #2 (1988) Pages 15-16: Monica Rambeau in action

This series hearkened back to combo titles of previous decades in which two heroes split one book. Issue #2 had separate stories featuring Hawkeye and Captain Marvel, not yet known as Photon or Spectrum. In this eleven page story by Monica Rambeau's creator Roger Stern, she comes under attack by the scientist who created her, now identified on the cover as the "Energy Parasite." On these pages, he makes her powers run amuck, so she flies away from civilization and ends up in outer space. Makes sense that she would travel pretty far away at the speed of light, before she could stop and recover. She communicates with her scientist friend Dr. LeClare, who is a hostage of the baddie. Monica's hair is substantially less curly than it was in her early appearances.
