CLERKS the Animated Series Uncensored Cover Art for DVD/VHS (Chris Bailey art)

Art to represent my love for the View Askewniverse and all things Kevin Smith (not everyone can say they have art of him in briefs)!

I haven’t really ventured out too far into the other media of original art, other than a few sketch cards and lots of X-Men animation cels. When this came up for auction a few years ago, it was the perfect item to display my love for the View Askewniverse and all things Kevin Smith.

I grew up watching his movies, reading all about his career and filmmaking and seeing him where-ever I could at various conventions and View Askew events to hear his words of wisdom in person. I even did a 24 hour Smith-con movie and podcast event just to soak up whatever knowledge I could from him. Recently I was even in New Jersey and even revisited the CLERKS storefront to just revel in all the gloriousness that it is and the joy it gave me.

This art from Chris Bailey, the guy behind (directing and producing) a lot of fun animation series, this one being one of them. I didn’t realize when buying the art, that he was the artist for this cover piece. I remembered the name and quickly realized he was our animation supervisor from Rhythm and Hues when I did GARFIELD: A TAIL OF TWO KITTIES. Also that I’ve apparently even purchased art from him here on this particular site.

For the most part the final artwork stayed the same, except for a change of tightie whities turning to boxers with hearts on them. That’s twice I’ve had art change tightie whities to boxers, see another piece from CABLE & DEADPOOL, maybe that’s my niche of art that I’m looking to collect, still figuring that out (who wants X-Men art?!?!?).
