19.5x23-3/8" frame contains artboard w/acrylic original art by The Brothers Hildebrandt created in 1994 for Fleer's popular Marvel Masterpieces trading card series. Card No. 13 features Blaze, also known as Johnny Blaze (aka Ghost Rider). The painting jumps from the board in what has become the signature "Hildebrandt comic-book style" of painting, featuring bold lighting and an analogous color scheme. The character's face is surrounded by gunsmoke, drawing the viewer into the character's stoic gaze. The cool tones of the bkg. help set off the intensity of the red and magenta hues of the figure, culminating into the hot spots of yellow and white of his fiery powers. The blasts from his eye and over his heart symbolize the Spirit of Vengeance that possesses him. Signed "G & T Hildebrandt" at bottom. Art has been matted to 10.5x14.25". NM and ready for display as professionally matted and framed. Comes w/example of the card this art was created for, signed in silver paint pen by Greg Hildebrandt. Few pieces of original Marvel art by The Brothers Hildebrandt come up for sale on the secondary market, making this a truly special piece. The current resurgence of popularity and value increases for these cards has propelled original art for these cards to a new level.
