Posted in honor of the passing of John Romita Sr.

While I haven't been able to land a Romita Sr Spider-man page (YET!), wanted to post this fantastic action page by the master, featuring Cap and Nick Fury battling Hydra from Captain America #144! After his run on Amazing, Romita returned to illustrate a brief, but exceptional run on the Captain America title in 1971. These three panels showcase the energy and artistry of Romita -- in particular love panel two as Fury jets through the battle finding time to light his trademark cigar, while panel three features an acrobatic encounter between Cap and a few Hydra goons -- perfection.

Great artist that exemplified the Marvel way. He'd make a bad barber though as he's pretty rough with the razor.

The Nick Fury facee in the top panel stands out as does the Captain America extended kick ( a la Kirby) in the bottom panel.

Awesome page that shows how excited Romita was to be working on Cap--look at how much work and detail he put into just this single page. Love seeing him ink himself!
