The Comic Reader #167 Cover Art by John Byrne (1979)

One of my all-time favorite Byrne images, just one of his coolest conceptions, and I didn't give up easily!!  Big congrats!

I've always loved this piece, so I couldn't let it pass me by when it came up for auction!

This is an iconic image of the X-Men.  Congrats on owning an early Byrne X-Men published piece of art.

Nice class picture as they are in Xavier school uniforms!  Banshee, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Storm, and Wolverine join Cyclops as John Byrne snaps the picture for Olan Mills!  Plenty of wallet sizes and full size to send back to the parents for their continued tuition/donations!  

LOL!  What a school where they allow students to smoke pipes...

Wow very cool pick up! It was one of those rare pieces by Byrne to see show up in auction. 

Yes, I definitely feel luck to have won the auction for this piece.  Now I'm trying to track down a copy of The Comic Reader #167, which is somewhat hard to find because apparently it's the first appearance of The Black Cat.

From a fellow vintage Byrne collector, congratulations with adding this unusual "What If"-style cover to your collection.  It would have been interesting to see the new original X-Men in the old X-Men garb for a complete story (like What If), especially if Thunderbird had survived beyond issue 95.

Much simpler in uniform, no expensive trainers ;-)

Ever so often, I'll see this Comic Reader cover at a LCS (I think I have two copies). I have to fight the impulse to buy it again because I think the cover is so darn cool!
