On this spread, Dani lets Sam know how she feels about being kicked off the team, just because she lost her powers. X-Men covered similar thematic ground in issue #201 between Cyclops and depowered Ororo. The left hand page contains an atypically cartoony head for Sam, his skull seeming to deform under the course of Dani's blow. It's a Sienkiewiczian moment, showing how it feels rather than how it realistically would look. It also recalls my favorite page in all of X-Men, the one where Maddie slugs Scott after he asks her about being Phoenix.
The right hand page is a very Claremontian dialogue sequence as Sam and Dani hammer out their differences. Baldus approaches it with varied camera angles, tilted borders, and unusual facial cropping to keep artist interest going.
