As a kid growing up in the 70s, I loved Welcome Back Kotter when it was on TV every week. I never read the comic but when I saw this up for auction recently, I decided to grab it. It features Jack Sparling on pencils and Bob Oksner on inks. I really like the left-hand middle panel. They really did a great job capturing Gabe Kaplan.

The lot included an unused pencil page by Sparling. The inked panel of Kaplan looks so much more lifelike than the pencil page. It makes me think that Oskner's inks really added a lot.

I'm not embarrassed to say that one of the comics I held onto when I pared down my collection was WBK #1. Sparling and Oksner really nailed Gabe Kaplan's likeness.
