Vampirella by Joe Quesada and Jimmy Palmiotti (Vengeance of Vampirella #1 cover)

I have just acquired a piece that teenage me would never have dreamed possible. Back in the mid-90's, I was collecting comics in earnest and of course the "bad girl" covers caught my eye. There was one cover though that I was particularly covetous of: Vengeance of Vampirella #1 Royal Blue foil variant. I was 14 and broke, so there was no way I could afford what comic shops were asking for it, even if I could find one (they supposedly only printed 100). So I lusted after it for years...

When I started collecting comics again about 7 years ago, I finally tracked down a Royal Blue and had it graded. It came back as a CGC 9.0, but I wasn't satisfied. I bought another, and this one graded CGC 9.8 white pages. I also bought the more common Red, Green, and Gold covers so that I would have a complete set. Then the original art bug bit me, which has led to owning lots of wonderful Vampi art over the past few years. However, for me, this piece is THE GRAIL.

I present to you the original cover art for Vengeance of Vampirella #1 with pencils by Joe Quesada and inks by Jimmy Palmiotti. I just opened the package this afternoon, and I still don't think it has completely sunk in yet. This is a dream come true almost 30 years in the making.
