DescriptionThis is McKone’s take on the Mandalorian for Marvel’s season one adaptation of the popular live-action series. Just as Marvel did with the return of Star Wars to the company in 2014, they gathered comic artists from different continents to create more than a dozen variant covers for the first two issues of The Mandalorian alone. If you look closely, Din Djarin is holding Jango Fett’s blaster seen in the Attack of the Clones. I originally assumed it was a nod to Jango, but it turns out that Marvel sent the wrong reference materials to McKone. It was later replaced with the correct blaster for printing.Social/Sharing |

I think those corrections from OA to published can be cool if pretty minimal! Cool to see, and gives you a nice story. Also like the rich inks here. Congrats!

Thanks, K! Yeah, I feel the same way. For me, learning tidbits like this about the creative process make art collecting that much more enjoyable.

The crosshatching techniques are also great callbacks to the great illustrators that have done work on Star Wars. Did Mando just take care of another mudhorn?

I can never get enough of cross hatching. Love it when artists use this technique in abundance. :) Don't know if those are fangs or claws, but I don't think it's a Mudhorn. It might be McKone's own creation.
