In an interview included in TwoMorrow's The Krypton Companion (https://bit.ly/3gfU1TX), Cardy said he did "hundreds" of pencil layouts for Superman: The Movie, including sketches of actors Gene Hackman and Trevor Howard. One of the sketches, with Superman pointing skyward, was re-created in a promotional photo and DC Comics house ads. Cardy said the studio kept all but "three or four" of the sketches.
