Description See the main page of this gallery for discussion of this issue's significance. Returning in stylish new attire from Diana Prince's boutique in Gotham City, Linda Lee Danvers learns of a comatose college student. As Supergirl, she visits the hospital to read the co-ed's mind. Wait, she does what? This previously unmentioned telepathic ability, convenient to move Sekowsky’s story along, would rarely appear in the future since it opens a huge can of storytelling worms. Many DC stories of the early Bronze Age had a strong social consciousness. This is not one of those, except for the reference in panel 1 to a potential campus riot, acknowledging the unrest among students at risk of being drafted for Vietnam in the late 1960s. A published letter around this time asked Supergirl to participate in campus uprisings, but the editor responded that Supergirl would not do anything illegal. The word "subconscious" in the final panel has been taped into place after another word was cut completely out of the page with a razor. Social/Sharing |
