Description
This is a very nice, original Al Banx (J. Albert Banks) pen and ink cartoon. Banks (1890-1967) was known as "Everybody's Cartoonist" and published cartoons in many different newspapers and magazines but was primarily associated with the Worcester.

Banks is widely recognized for his work and his original pieces are great collectibles. The art is stamped with PARADE at the bottom. It's not clear exactly how old these are but Banx died in 1967 and these seem like they are from the 40's to me, but that's just a guess based on content of the images. Parade Weekly Sunday Magazine started in 1941, so the 40's seem the most likely.

Pretty innocent time when you can invite the trick or treaters into your home without knowing who they are.  These single panel illustrations are like a cultural history lesson to show a side of Americana as it was.
