Description

Batman splash by Denys Cowan.

A great Batman splash with all the energy Cowan is known for. Batman needing to defeat the Scarecrow, whose fear gas is too powerful for Batman's respirator, enlists the aid of Swamp Thing. Batman and Swamp Thing team up as Batman dons Swamp Thing as a sort of armor, as Swamp Thing is unaffected by Scarecrow's fear gas. A strange and frightening scene as Swamp Bat bursts through the wall.

For those that are unaware Denys Cowans pencils and then Lightboxes the finishing inks. I purchased this during one of Bill Cox's art sales with Denys. I am a big fan of Denys Cowan and love the talk and sale shows Bill has done with Denys.

What a killer splash!

Batman and Swamp Thing turn the tables on Scarecrow! This is the fear felt by criminals that Batman had strived for to win the psychological edge that gives him a huge advantage. Cowan blocks out the frame of the artwork with camera angel and inclusion of just enough Scarecrow to see he's in deep trouble!
