Description

Mark Millar's pastiche of the Justice Society of America takes place in 1967. Skyfox (the Batman stand-in) has helped to kidnap the U.S. vice-president in hopes of forcing the government to be more peaceful. Seems like a scheme destined to backfire.

But regardless of that, Skyfox is disturbed to see a news report that an evil scientist has has stolen the powers from his super-friends and kidnapped them. Skyfox's new associates are high-fiving each other at the elimination of this thread to their own plans, but Skyfox is no longer so sure of his cause. His unshaven face shows that he's not operating at peak performance.

Chris Sprouse's classic style is perfect for this sort of Silver Age homage. He laid it out in blue pencil and then provided more finished figures in graphite. Walden Wong inked separate pages. The back of page 8 contains preliminary layouts for one figure and the close-up of Skyfox's head.

Very nice period accurate fashions.  Even with the more hard edged Millar storyline, this would have been the equivalent of the TV Batman '66 as if Adam West got to play a more serious Caped Crusader.
