Description

As I mentioned last month when I posted the Kaya #1 Main Cover on CAF, When I visited a local comic shop this past summer and picked up the first issue of Kaya, I immediately felt like I was reading something special. After subscribing to the book, I set out to research more about the book's creators.

Turns out, this is a wonderful creator owned series to which Wes Craig is both the storyteller and artist. Craig instantly thrusts Kaya along with her younger brother Jin into to a vibrant and imaginative world of adventure, and it's impossible for the reader to resist getting sucked in.

This piece is the official Cover art for the 2nd Printing of Kaya # 1, Cover "D" (Image Comics, Nov 2022), and measures 11" x 17". Pen and Ink on Bristol.

Interestingly, after posting this, it was brought to my attention by Reba, a fellow CAF member and avid Kaya fan, that this piece was also used as the Cover for the Image 30th Anniversary Anthology series, issue #4, released in July, 2022. And, because Kaya #1 (1st Printing) was released in Oct, 2022, this piece actually precedes it in terms of release date. I have also added a pic of the official Comic Cover release.

Thank you to the team at Cadence Comic Art (Andrew, Corey & Paolo) for working with me on this piece throughout the summer months. I also want to personally thank Wes for working with me and Cadence in allowing me to peel away the two #1 Covers.

It's been exciting to see Wes post on social media about Kaya's adventures and how we are now entering the 3rd story arc. I truly hope we get to see 100+ issues of this series!

Wonderful! I'm super envious. This was also published before Issue 1 of Kaya as the cover to Issue 4 of the Image 30th Anniversary Anthology. So great to see your two covers together.

Great catch on the timeline! I really appreciate sharing these details as I was not aware this peice was used for the Image Anthology series. And yes, you are 100% correct in that the Image Anthology issue was released in July 2022, while Kaya #1 (First Printing) was released in Oct 2022.

Probably the first time I've seen an Issue #1 2nd Printing Cover precede a 1st printing in this way! I'll be sure to make the adjustment in the listing and thank you once again.
