DescriptionIf you follow my gallery close enough you will remember that I put up two different Walking Dead covers for sale. One by Mike Zeck and this one here by Ethan Van Sciver. I had always planned on keeping one of them. I just didn't know which one until one of them sold or was traded. Ultimately, my Zeck was traded away for my Groo example (see his gallery room). Now on to the art. Even though I was willing to keep whatever cover didn't sell first, my favorite of the two was always this one here. To me, this is the best Walking Dead #1 variant out there. I think a close second is James O'Barr's variant cover (can be found here on CAF). This cover has it all. It has a heroic looking Rick Grimes, great action, and zombies. This was purchased via ComicLink. Enjoy the scan!!! Social/Sharing |

Seabiscuit just couldn't let it go. Could of just rode off into the sunset after the one movie but no that was not enough. Upon begging and begging his agent for another part this is what he got. Majestic cover but shortly thereafter; there was enough biscuits going around for everyone.

So glad you were able to keep your favorite Walking Dead cover. And this one is definitely a doozie!

Fantastic Variant cover for The Walking Dead #1! I love Ethan Van Sciver's style here. His talent for rendering realistic people (And horses) really works well on a dystopian storyline like this one. Ethan did a great job rendering the horse rearing up from the Walkers' attack as Rick wields his hatchet to fight them off. Ethan's realistic style also works well on the Walkers, making them look much more believable--And therefore, scarier! It's a great cover--You kept the right one!
