Description
Joe Madureira and Tim Townsend.

eBay was THE place for artwork in the early 2000s (at least for me)! I almost sold this cover a few times...not sure what was I thinking. I also had interesting email exchanges that helped me level up a bit on aspects of the hobby. Grateful now since I didn't get hornswoggled.

This cover - the artwork is absolutely amazing! The raindrops effects are spectacularly well done and all by hand. It's cool Joe and Tim blended their signatures in with the same effect. If this were created today, this might be rendered digitally. The image is a really interesting reflection of a happy X-Men team rippled and distorted. Grateful to have this incredible cover art.

Thanks to Joe Mad, Tim Townsend, the eBay seller and the interesting email exchanges this artwork initiated!

This was one of the first comics I ever bought as a kid! Awesome seeing this here. It's a sweet group shot and I've always thought the wistful raindrop effect on it was cool.

A great cover by Mad and Townsend matching the themes within having the portrait of the family looking now so distant and distorted in the aftermath of the Onslaught saga.

Oh wow, this is outstanding!  So many characters in the Joe Mad style, and cool that they got smiles for a change :)  And yeah, that drops in the pool effect is awesome.  Congrats, Bo!

Wow!!  Great cover and piece of X history, looks like you made some great choices for what to trade and keep.  Congrats!

It's staggering to think about the art that was being bought/sold on ebay in the early/mid-2000s.

Glad to see this up on CAF again!  This is one of the few Joe Mad covers I like as much as mine- so nice to see the X-Men as a happy family, and the water ripple effects (I always thought those were wind breezes until seeing the art without the trade dress) disrupting the image are just next level.  Congrats, and this is certainly a keeper!

This cover is amazing! Wow!  I've never seen the inks for it.  It's the first x-men comic I ever read, and is still my favorite! Great pickup! Congratulations!

It's hard to percieve the "water" in the color version.  The B&W inks look so cool!!!
