Amazing Spider-Man in New York City by Paul Azaceta (Cover Quality Commission)

Paul Azaceta (the Amazing Spider-Man, Outcast, Punisher) has been on my list for quite a while. Since his Spidey work during the Dan Slott era, I've loved his take on New York City. Whether it was in a Punisher, Daredevil or Spidey series, that vibrant & lived-in city always caught my eye.

Back in April 2023, I signed up for Paul's list at Cadence Comic Art. There was only one option to me: the 11x17 full figure & background option, which would be pencils, inks & some wash. The request was immediately clear as well: Spidey in NYC.

In my notes, I gave some suggestions - and while not all of them made it in here - I do like the general feeling that Paul kept. I didn't want a typical action pose - I was looking for a "slice of life" kind of piece. And Paul delivered.

Since I ordered the piece from Cadence in April, I hadn't received a single update in months & when I reached out myself in August, I didn't receive a reply either. In October, I investigated again & through social media, I got a less general email address. Once that happened, it was a completely different, positive story. Probably some busy months over there!

On the contrary, Paul replied immediately when I checked in with him directly in October. He's a great guy & puts a lot of work into these pieces.
