Description
Animal Man #26 page 19 - DEUS EX MACHINA

Page purchased on 12/10/23, an excellent transaction for my first page of original art.

Animal Man is personally one of my favorite stories I've read. Morrison's brilliant writing and Truog and Grummett's pencils always impressed me when reading.

When I saw the opportunity to pick up a page from this run, especially such an incredible issue as #26, I knew I had to. In this page, pencilled (and signed) by Truog and inked by Farmer, Buddy speaks to the writer of the issue, Grant Morrison. Morrison in this page is telling Buddy that all of his pain was completely artificial and made for the reader of the book, and that in making the comic world more violent, it would appeal to said readers of the real world. Morrison then says that they're out of space and that what they've said was unimportant, and they erase themself from the book as Buddy gets written back into his home with his deceased family now again living and completely forgets about the interaction.

Outstanding page as it turns Animal Man into something bigger and with wider scope of themes as it goes meta !

This one of those cases where the writing is considerably better than the art.  One of the great run ending issues of its era.

Your first page of original art should come from art/story that is meaningful to you. I'm glad you pulled the trigger on this one. Very nice art.

Sweet! Truog Animal Man pages from any issue are difficult to pry loose, but to get a page from issue 26... All I can do is tip my cap to you.

Oh wow - love this page. Long wanted a Chaz Troug Animal Man page and this one is an absolute beaute!

Love the way Chaz Troug (I guess???) has added on the top of the page with the details to mirror the logo of the comic at the time!

So many endings underwhelm. Not this one. Perfect page to represent what was special and memorable about this series... the negative space, the construction lines in panel 4.... wish it was mine!

A playful use of borders and disappearing backgrounds. Nice page!
