DescriptionStoryboard by Mike Ploog from the 1978 Ralph Bakshi Lord of the Rings animated film.Heritage description says "cavern scene", but it is most certainly Moria/Khazad-dûm. It could be the Second Hall or perhaps the Chamber of Mazarbul (there might be a tomb if you zoom in) or just a generic Moria depiction. Great detail even in a small drawing. Beautiful use of light and shadow, you really sense that this is the remnants of something once grand. Glad to own this small piece of Rings history. I do love pre-Peter Jackson LOTR images. As beautiful as any exterior landscape from the classic. This one allows for Ploog to bring the lighting and depth into play and you can feel the serenity of thie place that had not been disturbed for a long time.
