This was done in 1975 by the great Joe Johnston…from the Attack on the Death Star sequence, illustrating the scene when Darth Vader disposes of one of the X-Wing fighters…pencil & ink & gouache on velum…Social/Sharing |

Great imagination! Look at the bank of those angles! Johnston must have known that they were going to be able to film scenes like this which were revolutionary special effects at the time.
