Wow! Stunning Russ Heath war comic! Love this page with the P-38 taking on a German E-Boat. The whole page is laid out like a movie storyboard. It goes from an overhead shot of the P-38 to a tight closeup of the pilot, to a wide shot of the E-Boat firing at the P-38, to another overhead of the plane diving towards the boat and then a wide shot of the boat exploding as the plane zooms off. A cinematographer couldn't have handled it better. Russ Heath was a visual genius and a master of comic art.
I know flying the P-38 sounds very glamorous but I know how this guy feels. Sometimes you just want to get back to your day job. Campbell soup taste tester!
