Maggots #3 (1992) 'Some Kind of Beautiful' pages 7-8

In this story by DC writer Jack C. Harris, an ugly duckling goes to extreme lengths to become her high school's beautiful swan, ultimately reaping disaster. In this finale, Cheryl Wheeler's body has fissioned into a beautiful but vapid teen, and a loathsome but intelligent slime monster. Her new boyfriend destroys the latter, thereby dooming the former as well. Oh, the humanity!

Panel one shows well-drawn feet, a detail many comic book artists are not well practiced in rendering. Apart from the liberal use of Craftint for textures, Morrow also uses overlapping layers in panel five to suggest a cityscape behind the characters.
