DescriptionTaken straight from The Mandalorian episode 8 "The Rescue". It's also the cover scene for this issue. This battle ends quickly in the comic after only a page and a half but on the show lasts much longer. Can't blame the creative team though! There's so much story and key scenes to jam into 30 pages!Mando enlists on the help of all his new friends to rescue Grogu from the clutches of Moff Gideon who abducted Grogu for samples of his blood. In this scene Mando has bordered Moff Gideon's ship with his team and located the cell where he is keeping Grogu. Moff Gideon tells Mando he's done with Grogu and he can take him if he leaves the ship immediately. Once Mando reaches to pickup Grogu, Moff Gideon strikes with his darksaber! I believe Grogu's blood is a missing link to successfully clone Emporer Palpatine in the future. Which in Moff Gideon's eyes would be "bringing order back to universe". It's definitely not by chance that Doctor Pershing who analyzed Grogu's blood is an expert on cloning. Full battle between Mando and Moff Gideon https://youtu.be/iL5QYU0n5n8?si=j-wEILLQqVLsSp_U Penciled by Steven Cummings on approx 11" x 17" illustration paper. Signed by both Steven and writer Rodney Barnes. Will update scan soon. Social/Sharing |

Oh those midichlorians! Giancalo Esposito and CGI carried a lot of those scenes, and we were riveted to the story. A piece of art that would spark conversation from even the most casual of fan when seen.

I was travelling when Steven dropped these pages, and a little late sending in my page requests. I was wondering who else was snatching all of the great pages before I could! Fantastic.

Sorry you missed out! I was on vacation in Punta Cana when the art drop happened. I had spoken to Steven when issue 8 was released and he said he would post the issue for sale in April when he got clearance for Lucas Films. So I was surprised when I caught his social media post a day after the art drop happened... which was a month early. Three of the pages I wanted had already sold but thankfully these two were still available. My brother also picked up a couple pages from issue 8 and one from issue 7 today.
