Description
A cool background used in the press press kit for Batman: The Animated Series. According to artist Ted Blackman:

I was the background supervisor as well as development artist from the very beginning. Bruce Timm came to me and asked if I could generate some architectural inserts and designs in the 'Dark Deco' style for the new Press Kit that was being put together to sell the show.

I created these three drawings in the days before digital art, using white Xerox paper, ink line, prismacolor pencils and sharpie markers. They were done in the old 'cut-and-paste' style using white glue and tape on the backside to piece together separate elements, which would not show up when printed. The grey tone was done the way we did all the background keys back then by rubbing prismacolor pencils over the backside of a masonite board.

This authentic Batman The Animated Series Press Kit was given to the animation crew in 1991.

I own the presskit and always thought the artwork was from the show. Didn't realize it was art created just for it. Love the style used in the show for the backgrounds which had a great art deco feel.
