I got a couple of sketches from Dave Cockrum before this one. But I decided it was about time to ask Dave to sketch a character he was closely associated with. I kept debating the merits of going with Nightcrawler or picking someone from the Legion of Super-Heroes. I had recently purchased the Legion Archives vol 10, which reprints the bulk of Dave's work on that series. I really liked his costume re-designs, especially the one he came up with for Phantom Girl. So I requested a sketch of her. This is one of my favorite drawings in my convention sketchbook.

Later on, this was published in Back Issue Magazine #14, which focused on the Legion, and featured a "Pro 2 Pro" interview with Cockrum and Mike Grell. It was cool to know I contributed to that issue in at least a tiny way.

I like how PG looks a little more cartoony, especially in the face. Also, thanks for the history on this. I think I would very much like to read that interview between Mike and Dave.
