Interesting to see the difference between this scan and the previous image (which I assume was a digital photo). If you’re anything like me, I assume it’s just as frustrating for you to get as accurate a representation of a piece as you can capture. But of course we are completely at the mercy of our technology. I recall a recent conversation with an artist friend who was telling me about his high-end scanner and how he had to run color tests to make sure it was working properly. Now I’m not a tech engineer, or even particularly tech savvy. Still, I can’t help but wonder just how exactly these things work. The big question of course is, does a scanner or camera see the same thing that human eyes see? Even so, how does the device INTERPRET that mechanically (or from an engineering/programming standpoint) to reproducde it? At the end of the day, nothing beats the real thing and seeing it in person. So I guess we’ll keep continuing to use our imaginations to enhance the reproductions we see. And if your two images look THAT good, I get a smile just thinking about how incredible it must look in person. The 140 hours were truly well spent, and worth every second. Congratulations!
