David Thorn Wenzel is an American fantasy illustrator who amongst his body of work illustrated The Hobbit: An Illustrated Edition that was a graphic novel of The Hobbit that Wenzel had illustrated, published by Eclipse Comics in 1989. The comic writer Chuck Dixon was also involved. Collectively, these are the only authorized graphic novel adaptations of The Hobbit. Nicely signed, dated and added head of Smaug image at lower right.
