Stan Sakai - Usagi Yojimbo and Spot Color Illustration

This is the 200th piece that I’ve posted on Comic Art Fans. When I purchased it, I didn’t know it would be the 200th item that I own to be placed in my gallery. That being said, I’m pleased that it is though. I have been on the hunt for just the right Stan Sakai piece for a long time. I wanted it to be colored, and to be of Usagi Yojimbo and Spot. That kind of limited the field of items. This path has taken me years to walk. In a way, I am both joyful and sad that it has ended.

The piece is ink and crayon over graphite. It is 21 years old. The colors are fresh, the lines are clean, and it has a wonderful meshing of reality and caricature. In the piece everyone looks relaxed, and happy. To me, it is glorious!

Yes, I have a ton of other items I could have posted. Yes, I have some sought after artist pieces in my collection both what I have shared here and that are locked away. Yet, I am completely satisfied that no other piece I have could have been better to post today. You see, Stan Sakai is on my Mount Rushmore of comic creators. In my mind, opening this today and sharing it is almost as glorious a day as Usagi Yojimbo and Spot are having in piece.
