The precise, detailed inks are impressive. Buck Danny is a Franco-Belgian comics series about a military flying ace and his two sidekicks serving in the US Navy or Air Force, according to Wikipedia. The series is well known for its accurate drawings of US aircraft and realistic descriptions of US operating procedures. Begun in 1947, the ongoing series takes the character up to the present in its stories. The plane is a US Navy F4F Wildcat from World War II. Although the Navy’s principal fighter in the Pacific during the first years of the war, the Japanese Zero had better maneuverability, speed, and climb. The superior F6F Hellcat and F4U Corsair, whose performance was comparable to the Zero's, began replacing the Wildcat in 1943.
