Dean Cornwell — The Golden Gate (Good Housekeeping 1926)

Gorgeous and LARGE oil painting by the “Dean” of Golden Age illustration, Dean Cornwell. Painting is entitled “The Golden Gate, Jerusalem” and was published in Good Housekeeping Magazine(June 1926, Vol 82, No. 6). In 1925, Dean Cornwell visited Israel and created several paintings, which were eventually used for various books and stories with Middle East and Biblical themes. This painting was illustrated in the sixth of a series of articles about paintings of places in Israel published by Good Housekeeping Magazine in 1926. Art is oil on canvas, and measures a whopping 38” x 28.”
