Description"Shadow of The Phantasm"November 1996 The successful "Batman: The Animated Series" created by the immensely talented Bruce Timm, Paul Dini and Ty Templeton was a groundbreaking work during the 1990s. This peculiar style created a kind of school in the universe of superhero comics. The series was renamed first as "The Adventures of Batman & Robin, Batman Adventures" and later as "The Batman and Robin Adventures". There is no doubt that the authors created a style of their own. In my opinion, it is visually very close to the european clear line style (bande dessinée) and with a marked cartoon essence. Parobeck and Burchett are faithful followers of such a clear an clean style. This Annual 1 was drawn by different authors in each of its chapters. Parobeck and Burchett are the authors of Act 2 of this wonderful story. I particularly love it. This page has three beautiful panels of Bruce Wayne, Batman and Alfred Pennyworth. "So Wake Up, My Boy; Tell This City Who You Are." Alfred Pennyworth Social/Sharing |

A follow up to the universally revered Batman movie in Mask of the Phantasm! A hidden gem as Parobeck worked the original series and we thought that we would never see his style again with the new iteration with more angular designs. However, this goes back in time to give us a glimpse at that first gen BTAS cartoon look.

Nice example from the run, Toni! Got that look for Bats AND Bruce here, as well as Alfred. Gotta like how he rendered that middle panel, with Alfred being shaken awake. Congrats!

It was such a game changer that was different than the crosshatch style of the time. The designs were sleek and fluid like the animation. Parobeck and Burchett successfully adapted the property into a monthly and made the adventure live on even between seasons of the show.
