Munuera Spirou in Tokyo

José-Luis Munuera studied fine arts in Granada. After his studies, he tried to sell his comics in Spain, but all the Spanish publishers told him that his style was "too French". The young Munuera went to the festival in Angoulême where he met Joann Sfar. Together, they made several comics, like 'Les Potamoks' and 'Merlin'. The first two albums have both won prices on festivals in Sierre and Angoulême. José-Luis Munuera also produces comics for Bayard Presse and, with writer Jean-David Morvan, he makes the series 'Sir Pyle' for the magazine Lanfeust Mag. In 2004, he took over the series 'Spirou et Fantasio' from Tome and Janry, on scenarios by Morvan.
