Description

This piece was published in those halcyon days when Warren magazines were all the rage, and the artists working for Jim Warren rivaled even the group that worked for Bill Gaines in EC's heyday. It was used as the frontispiece of Vampirella 34, and was entitled Extraordinary Verse because it accompanied the William Blake poem "The Tiger" (more commonly known as "The Tyger").

1974 was a time where seemingly everything Jones touched was magical, and this piece is no exception. It was created in the middle of the Idyl run, and exhibits that painterly approach to India ink that makes Jones's art so compelling.

The art is 12 x 15.5 on a larger board.

I have also included a photo of the framed piece, which includes the original title that Jones created, and speaks to my affinity for this piece. I bought this original title from Jeffrey over 20 years ago, and had a dream that it could be reunited with the art, as I appreciate having stories together and keeping titles and paste-ups, especially original art items, together to the extent possible. The ability to finally have that happen with this piece is a fantastic outcome.
