DescriptionMartin finishes his narration of the life of Prince Rudolf of Austria, which ended in a murder-suicide... or did it? “Historians generally agree that the reconstruction of the facts that we have just illustrated is the only plausible one. However, not everyone thinks that events of Mayerling were only the murder-suicide of two lovers. One theory holds that Mary Vetsera was pregnant, and on the night of January 30, she underwent an abortion, performed secretly and very clumsily, following which she died. Rudolf committed suicide immediately afterwards, in a panic over the scandal that would have arisen. “Other theories concern political conspiracies. According to another reconstruction, Rudolf was killed by army officers because of his sympathies for Hungary.” “Another has the prince refusing to participate in a conspiracy against his father, hatched by French agents who ultimately eliminated Rudolph to prevent him from speaking out. But no evidence has ever been discovered to support these hypotheses, which therefore remain in the realm of pure speculation.” “Cut! That was the last one. We're done. Martin, you're free!” “Hghrr… mgh!” “Thanks, old man. My throat is dry.” “Mgh? Rghmm?” “Yes, I want to go and see Renate Yilmaz, before I leave. I want to know how she is.” “I'm fine, professor.” The pregnancy theory has been rejected on grounds that Mary wrote to her sister, reporting her first intercourse with Rudolf on January 19, so she would not have known of any pregnancy by January 30 when she died. I though the Prince medically couldn't have children anymore. Well, it's permanent now, so it's a moot point.

He thought so too, but as we'll see it, was actually Pelvic Inflammatiry Disease from gonorrhea (contracted from him) which made his wife infertile, not him.
