Description
It's hard to explain to those who don't get Sugar and Spike why you like it but I think I'll try. For me it's the joy of the characters, the elegant primal-ness of the art and the absurd levels the story can reach. Now, this is a bit of an indulgent purchase as the story here doesn't have the imaginative and audacious bombast of later issues (my favorite scene involves Spike laughing about a baddie meeting "Gorgeous George.") but I like the art and I got a deal/ steal for whatever reason. I thought maybe fatigue had set in for this stuff, perhaps everyone who wanted one had bought a lot, but prices were high the next week and I got this complete story for less than a single page has been selling for. This issue came out the year before I was born, and while I bought up the old issues eventually, my initial exposure to the series was I think was #74 in 1968.

Very nice note at the end to dedicate this story to a young reader!  Rare fan call out in a DC book!
